SEAN HANNITY TAKES US BACK TO OUR FUTURE

As George Santayana said, "Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it." If America had truly learned from the history of the Reagan years on the one hand, and the background of its putative president Barack Obama on the other, Sean Hannity would not have had to write his new book Conservative Victory. But, unfortunately our nation did not learn from either Reagan's history or Obama's biography and made a huge mistake. Now we find ourselves engulfed in class warfare, one party dictatorial governance, and government autocracy. Meanwhile our enemies grow stronger basking in Obama's appeasement while our long standing allies suffer his humiliations.

So we all need to read Hannity's book to remind ourselves of what we should have known before we elected Obama in 2008.

Sean takes us through the chilling theology of Reverend Jeremiah Wright and the politics of Bill Ayers. We learn of the early, Marxist influences on the future president as he grew up in Indonesia. Obama's friends, associates, and appointees parade before our eyes with their sordid history of radical advocacy. By the time we have finished, we wish America had listened when Hannity spelled all this out before the election.

Then Sean turns to the one year history of the Obama presidency, showing how his economic policies have backfired and are more likely to fuel than to decrease unemployment.

But Hannity also writes of more pleasant histories. He restates the gospel of Reaganism and reminds us of Newt Gingrich's campaign to retake America in 1994. With these lessons in mind, he calls for a Republican victory in 2010, scorning the idea of a third party, much as Reagan did, but calling instead for a new first party of Republican conservatism.

SEATTLE -- The mother of a Ballard High School student is fuming after the health center on campus helped facilitate her daughter's abortion during school hours.

The mother, whom KOMO News has chosen to identify only as "Jill," says the clinic kept the information "confidential."

When she signed a consent form, Jill figured it meant her 15 year old could go to the Ballard Teen Health Center located inside the high school for an earache, a sports physical, even birth control, but not for help terminating a pregnancy.

"She took a pregnancy test at school at the teen health center," she said. "Nowhere in this paperwork does it mention abortion or facilitating abortion."

Jill says her daughter, a pro-life advocate, was given a pass, put in a taxi and sent off to have an abortion during school hours all without her family knowing.

"We had no idea this was being facilitated on campus," said Jill. "They just told her that if she concealed it from her family, that it would be free of charge and no financial responsibility."

The Seattle School District says it doesn't run the health clinics at high schools. Swedish Medical Center runs the clinic at Ballard High and protects the students' privacy.

T.J. Cosgrove of the King County Health Department, which administers the school-based programs for the health department, says it's always best if parents are involved in their children's health care, but don't always have a say.

"At any age in the state of Washington, an individual can consent to a termination of pregnancy," he said.

But Jill says she not only didn't have a say in her daughter's abortion, but also didn't know about it.

"Makes me feel like my rights were completely stripped away."

There is no way to stop ObamaCare in the Senate since Obama has ordered Reid to use reconciliation, FORCING THE BILL TO PASS WITH 51 VOTES. But we can beat it in the House! Dozens of Congressmen who voted for the bill last time are re-thinking their support as tax increases and special deals to buy off Senators are included. On a Sunday talk show this past weekend, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was asked if she had the votes to pass Obama's health care bill. Her answer was a one-word "yes."

With that one word - if it stands - she will seal the fate of America's health care system.

We must not let her prediction become reality.

Obama's bill will easily pass the Senate. It is only in the House that we have a chance to prevail.

This week the League of American Voters has raised close to $200,000 and spent all of it - plus about $50,000 left over from other appeals - to run ads in twelve Congressional districts now represented by vulnerable Democrats who voted for Obama's health care bill when it first passed the House this past autumn.

Pelosi got 220 votes them (215 voted no) so she has no margin for error. She needs all twelve of these Democrats to walk the plank and vote yes again!

One week's worth of media, however, won't be enough to bring these Democrats to our side. We need another $250,000 to run the ads a second week.

The ad says (paraphrased):

"Congressman Mike Arcuri voted for Obama's health care proposals. For a $500 billion cut in Medicare. For rationing of health care. For a surcharge on income taxes. Now Pelosi and Obama want Arcuri to be the swing vote in passing his program again. Please call Mike Arcuri and ask him to vote no to save our health care."

The phone numbers for the Congressman remain on the screen all during the ad.

We already have reports of the members' phones being jammed with callers.

We need to keep up the pressure. We can't let these votes stand. If Obamacare passes if will provide:

• A $500 billion cut in Medicare
• 30 million new patients with no new doctors
• Health care rationing
• Protocols of care to deny costly treatments based on how many "Quality Adjusted Life Years" remain
• Require the uninsured to pay $8500 to buy policies
• Fine them 2.5% of their income if they don't
• And send them to jail if they don't pay
• Tax medical devices like pacemakers and automated wheelchairs
• Force up premiums for all Americans by $2,000 a year
• Add $500 billion to the federal deficit (by 2024)
• Raise income taxes 2.5%
• Raise capital gains taxes 2.5%
• Cut reimbursement to doctors who order too many tests for patients

They look at ratifying treaties much like approving Presidents' Supreme Court nominees.
And remember, there were NINE Republicans who voted to confirm anti-gun Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.
A dozen more GOP Senators only voted against Sotomayor after receiving massive grassroots pressure from the folks back home.

So if we're going to defeat the UN's "Small Arms Treaty" we have to turn the heat up on the U.S. Senate now before it's too late!

Now that the feel good politics of the Blair House bipartisan Summit is over, the left is gearing up to lie and cheat their way to victory. Now claim may be bold, yet it is objectively true. The left is lying about the American people’s opinions on ObamaCare and they are cheating to get the bill passed. The next few weeks will determine whether the American people get ObamaCare passed against their will with no opportunity for a minority number of Members of Congress to protect the will of a majority of Americans.
The big lie the left will try and peddle over the next few weeks is that the American people want ObamaCare. The fact of the mater is that the American people have soundly rejected government run ObamaCare and the left will attempt to manipulate polling data to argue that the American people like elements of the President’s approach. Peter Fenn writes for The Hill:

If you listen to some of the Republican rhetoric on the public’s view of health care, repeated over and over, you would come to the conclusion that the American people are not solidly behind change in the system. Clever manipulation. In fact, what the American people hate is the lack of progress, the incessant back-and-forth, the gridlock. What the American people hate is watching the sausage being made, the side deals and horse trading, the refusal of the two parties to get together and pass a bill, the simple lack of action. Right now, 59 percent of Americans believe that the delays in passing a bill are more due to both sides playing politics and only 25 percent think it is more about Republicans and Democrats having policy disagreements.

The left would love you to ignore the polling date and argue that because the American people don’t like obstruction and gridlock in D.C., they love ObamaCare. This ignores the Massachusetts special election for Senate this past January where a candidate, State Senator Scott Brown, won on a campaign to go to Washington to obstruct and filibuster ObamaCare. Furthermore, it ignores a fact I cited in a previous ObamaCare post that every single poll indicates that Americans oppose the President’s plan.

Fenn also argues that elements of ObamaCare are popular, therefore the plan as a whole must be popular. He uses polling data from the Kaiser Family Foundation to claim that people support elements of the plan.

76 percent support reforming the way health insurance works
72 percent support tax credits for small businesses
71 percent support creating a health insurance exchange/marketplace
70 percent support expanding high risk insurance pools
68 percent support providing financial help for low-/middle-income people

The problem is that according to this same poll, the same amount of people who support the bill oppose the bill. Furthermore, they attribute hatred of ObamaCare as one element of the Scott Brown victory, validating conservatives argument that the Brown victory was a defeat for ObamaCare. This poll looked at opponents of ObamaCare and found that the following three issues were a “major reason” for opposing the bill:

•We can’t afford to pay for health care reform right now (73%);

•The legislation gives government too big a role in the health care system (80%); and,

•Too much of the process took place behind closed doors and involved too much deal-making (73%).

Any way you slice it, ObamaCare is unpopular. People don’t like the core of this bill — a government run health care system that is too expensive and was crafted behind closed doors.

The liberals are cheating when they claim that Reconciliation is not the Nuclear Option. Reconciliation is being used by the left because they can’t pass ObamaCare through the regular order. They want to rid the Senate of the filibuster and the reconciliation procedure, the Health Care Nuclear Option, is a means to get what they could not get when they followed the rules. Lefties at The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities claim:

Because rising health care costs represent the single largest cause of the federal government’s long-term budget problems, fundamental health care reform must be part of any budget solution. The foregoing examples indicate that using the budget reconciliation process to enact health reform in 2010 would be consistent with the ways in which Congress has used reconciliation in the past. Many major policy changes, including welfare reform, large tax cuts, and new health programs, have been included in past reconciliation bills. Moreover, if health reform is pursued through the reconciliation process this year, the resulting legislation — unlike the tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 — will need to be designed so it does not add to the deficit. Any legislation also is likely to include provisions, such as an independent Medicare Commission and demonstration projects to identify ways to deliver health care more efficiently, that could lead to further reforms that slow the growth of health-care costs and contribute to longer-term deficit reduction.

Reconciliation is unprecedented and unusual for a few reasons. First, the left is using reconciliation, the ObamaCare Nuclear Option, as a procedure of last resort to get ObamaCare passed. It would be interesting for the left to produce other bills that have failed during the use of the regular order for a bill, necessitating Congress to resort to reconciliation. ObamaCare passed the House in November and the Senate on Christmas Eve, yet they are resorting to reconciliation because they know they can’t get one Republican to support the President’s health care bill in the Senate.

Second, reconciliation has never been used to amend a bill that has yet to pass. The Health Care Nuclear Option will be used to pass a new bill that amends the Senate passed version of ObamaCare. Finally, reconciliation has not traditionally been used to steamroll the will of the American people. The bipartisan Blair House Summit was merely some feel good politics before the real effort by Democrats to jam an unpopular ObamaCare bill through Congress using a the procedural Nuclear Option. The American people should take note that Washington continues to view their opposition with contempt and politicians would like you to believe that they know what is best for America.
